Sichuan University is a comprehensive university directly under the State Education Ministry. It came into being by the meager of the former Sichuan University, Chengdu University of Science & Technology, and West China University of Medical Sciences . With a tradition of over a hundred years , all the former universities and the present Sichuan University always hold high the principles of seeking truth and making innovations. > In 1905, the first program of economics for undergraduates was established at Sichuan University.
> In 1924, the Department of Economics was formally established.
> In 1985, the School of Economics and Management was established, which consisted of departments of Economics, Economics and Management, Foreign Trade, Business Management and Institute of Economics Research.
> In 1994, the former School of Economics and Management was merged with the School of Commerce and the Department of Management Science & Engineering to form the new School of Economics and Management.
> 1n 1998, with the academic adjustment across the university, the Business School was formed on the basis of the former Departments of Business Management, Accounting, and Managing Engineering, and Managing Science.
> In 2001, after the merger of Sichuan University with the Medical University of West China, the Business School of Sichuan University was formally established.
